In this article, we speak about healthy breakfast. Keep in mind that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. The reason is because you have been sleeping for 6 to 8 hours so your body is in a starvation mode and it certainly needs nutrients when it wakes up. Below, are the foods you should think about when you want to consume a healthy breakfast.

#1 Lean Proteins

Which are the lean proteins? These are the proteins that are not attached to saturated fat like a burger. Saturated fat is very detrimental to your body. So, here is what you should do: You take lean protein from eggs which are a superb source of protein. Also, if you are not allergic to dairy products, certainly consume Greek Yogurt. You get a great amount of protein in Greek Yogurt. Finally, you get lean protein from chicken, turkey, pork and fish.

#2 Slow Carbohydrates

You need to take slow carbohydrates. What do we mean when we say “slow carbohydrates”? These are the carbs which when are broken down in the body, they absorbed slowly. For example, if you eat a burger, it is consumed really quickly in your body, it shoots your blood sugar levels up, there is a subsequent crash and that is why you binge on more food, more fat and more sugar to satisfy your hunger.

Slow carbohydrates are broken down slowly in your body, absorbed slowly and therefore you have sustained energy throughout the day. Here are some great examples of slow carbohydrates in the morning: Apples, a bowl of Oatmeal, Cereal high in fiber. When you think of slow carbohydrates, think of high-fiber foods because fiber slows down the absorption rate of your carbohydrates.

#3 Healthy fats

In the morning when you are preparing your breakfast, for example you are preparing eggs, you should use olive oil which contains monounsaturated fat.  Keep in mind that the monounsaturated fat is beneficial and healthy to your body and health versus saturated fat coming from example from beef.

You can also consume supplements of fish oil which is a great source of beneficial fat.

#4 Unsweetened beverages

When we talk about unsweetened beverages the best choice is water. However, sometimes most of us do not like water so you want to consume something else. For example, you can drink unsweetened Almond milk or Green Tea or Herbal Tea. All these are great choices of unsweetened sugar-free beverages as a healthy breakfast. They will leave you fuller for longer and they will give you more energy throughout the day.
